THINGS TO DO FROM BLACK ROCK

Lots to do and see whilst staying with us

We are lucky to have a wealth of great landscapes, attractions and generally good things to do in the Highlands. Some close by attractions are listed blow with ones further away, on the next set. All are within a short distance from the park, some you can walk to and some are a short car journey.

Don't forget you still have the convenience of the bigger towns, Inverness and Dingwall just a car or bus journey away.

Evanton Community Woods

Evanton Wood Community Company (EWCC) was formed to take on the project and register under the Land Reform

Ben Wyvis (Bheinn Uais)

Ben Wyvis (Bheinn Uais) stands alone and indomitable to the north of Inverness.

Its brooding slopes and high whaleback ridge are magnets for hill walkers and the dotterel, a rare migratory bird which nests in the fragile carpet moss of the summit ridge.

Visit Alness Market Town

Alness is an attractive town that lies close to the north shore of the Cromarty Firth.

The main A9 used to run through Alness as it followed the east coast north of Inverness, but the town was bypassed at around the same time as the new crossing of the Cromarty Firth was built, seven miles to the south west, in 1979.

The Fyrish Monument

The Fyrish Monument is a monument built in 1782 on Fyrish Hill, in Fyrish in Evanton, near Alness, Easter Ross, Scotland, on the orders of Sir Hector Munro, 8th of Novar, a native lord of the area who had served in India as a general

The Dalmore Distillery

Just a short ride from the parl, the Dalmore Distillery awaits you.

The Dalmore’s heritage dates back to 1263. It was in this year that Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Clan Mackenzie, saved King Alexander III from the fury of a charging stag. In recognition of this noble act the King granted the Mackenzie Clan the right to use the 12 pointed Royal stag emblem on their coat of arms.

Eilean Donan Castle

A journey from Black Rock to the west coast takes in Eilean Donan.  Recognised as one of the most iconic images of Scotland  all over the world.

Placed on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most visited and important attractions in the Scottish Highlands.
